Safety on Blend'n
Last updated: 26 October 2026
In an emergency, call 112 in India or 911 in Canada. Blend'n can't send help.
Blend'n puts you in a room with real people who are really there. That's the point, and it's also why we take safety seriously. Here's what we do, what you can do, and who to call.
What we do
- Everyone is 18 or over. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and refuse anyone younger.
- Rooms are for people who are there. You can only join a room when your phone's location shows you're at the event or place. You're checked out about 20 minutes after you leave.
- Made-up names by default. In every room you're "Adjective Noun", new each time. Your name and photos stay hidden until you match, accept a request, or choose to reveal.
- Contact details are hidden. Phone numbers, social handles and messaging links are hidden automatically in rooms, so nobody can push you off the app before you're ready.
- Messages are checked. Messages, posts and photos are checked automatically for safety, including by OpenAI. Room messages are also checked for abusive words, spam and contact details. Direct messages go through our own filters and are never sent to OpenAI. If 3 of someone's messages are hidden within an hour, they're muted in that room for an hour.
- Organizers can act on the spot. The organizer of an event, or the owner of a venue who has claimed it, can remove messages and mute or ban people in their room. A message that sounds like someone is in danger is sent to the organizer's live screen and to our moderation queue. It's never hidden, because hiding a call for help makes things worse.
- People review reports. Our team reads every report and can remove content, suspend accounts and take down events. Suspension signs someone out everywhere and bans them from every room.
- Nothing sold works against you. No plan lets anyone see who liked them, get round a reveal, see a venue's room without going there, or boost themselves.
What you can do
Report or block someone
| To | Do this |
|---|---|
| Report a room message | Press and hold it → Report |
| Report a direct message | Press and hold their message → Report |
| Report or block someone in a room | Tap their card → ••• → Block User or Report User |
| Report or block someone from their profile | ••• at the top → Block User or Report User |
| Leave a conversation | ⋮ at the top of the chat → Unmatch, Unmatch and report, or Block and report |
| Report or block a friend | Me → Friends → their name → ••• |
| Report an event | The event's page → Report this event |
| Unblock someone | Me → Settings → Safety → Blocked users |
- Blocking works both ways. You can't see or message each other, and any friendship or conversation between you ends.
- We never tell people who reported them.
- To report an event board post, email grievance@blendn.app.
Control what people see
- Stay anonymous as long as you like. Revealing is always your choice, room by room.
- Turn off "Show online status" in Me → Settings.
- Friends see you in rooms only if you turn on "Friends can see who I am in rooms".
- In a crew, turn on Keep me anonymous even when my crew reveals.
- Leave a room whenever you want. Checking out is instant.
Don't
- share your phone number, address, workplace or social handles early on;
- send money, gift cards or payment details to anyone you met on Blend'n;
- share photos you wouldn't want seen: anyone with a photo's web address can open it.
Meeting someone in person
- Meet in public: at the event, or somewhere busy nearby.
- Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting. Share your live location with them, not with your match.
- Get yourself there and back. Keep your phone charged and your ride home sorted.
- Watch your drink, and leave if you feel pressured.
- Trust your gut. If something feels off, leave. Tell the event or venue staff, and report the person in the app.
- Know the house rules. In Canada, bars in Ontario and British Columbia are 19+, even though Blend'n is 18+. Carry ID.
- We can't confirm who anyone is or vouch for how they'll behave. A match means you both said yes. It isn't a background check.
If something has happened
- Get safe first. Call the emergency number below if you're in danger.
- Report it in the app (above). Report before you block: a report can still reach us after you block, but you may lose the conversation from view.
- Keep evidence: screenshots of messages, the event's name and time. Don't share them publicly. That can break the guidelines and put you at risk.
- Tell us directly if it's serious:
- India: grievance@blendn.app. We acknowledge within 24 hours, and act within 24 hours on content that shows you nude or in a sexual act, or impersonates you.
- Canada: privacy@blendn.app for privacy matters, support@blendn.app for everything else.
- We cooperate with the police when the law requires it, and may share information with them.
